Paola
My eglu door is always open and they go in and out as they please! Ditto Only if it is really cold will I shut the eglu door. It is surprisingly warm inside the eglu with four warm little feathered bodies
Bondinho
Our chooks would be very close to our house and we are mid-terrace so the neighbours would undoubtedly be able to hear them. I live in a mid-errace and none of my hens (bantams currently or my old bluebelle and silkie crosses) make any noise really, only if a cat comes in - although sometimes they completely ignore them so maybe it is just certain cats! But it does depend entirely on the chickens I think, if you buy from Omlet then at least you get the 30 day money back guarantee and you should find out within that time if they are noisy hens. Daywalker
We only close the eglu door when it's really cold and frosty. The rest of the time they come and go as they please and seem to prefer it that way. Me too!
The Pearsons
In the winter my hens are shut in when it gets dark and they have settled down for the night (too early and they all come out to see if there is food in the offing). I put the grubs away as well. I let them out around 6.30 to 7.00. My husband does the weekend letting out as he is always up around that time to go to the loo. He does put a dressing gown on over his jimjams though! In the summer we don't lock the hens in at all as it is light most of the time. There are foxes around but in the summer the wild rabbits and ducks make foxy's dinner as they are easier to get at. In the winter I am not so confident.
