Luthien
One of my mums congregations keeps chickens and said that we/I could go around and see them. We were hoping today but shes busy and beforehand but the weather was rubbish (VERY foggy). Anyway she has some Bantams (I don't know if she has other types of chucks as well) and said if they have chicks this year then I am welcome to have some!! OMG and they are Pekin Bantams , fingers-crossed! I might have to get the cube first I think, then the eglu to put the Bantams in till they can be introduced to the Ex-Batts (once we get them)... hummm I'm gonna be skint if this goes ahead Anyway thought I'd tell you guys. Now we just need to find out when the next battery hen rescue is in lincolnshire I know one is in march (might be too soon) dunno when though and when the next one after will be. The Dogmother
That's good news Alix. I love pekins and always have at least two in my flock. They are lovely characters, but have short legs, so you might find that they can't get into the cube and are better off with an eglu. Shirl
I would worry about adult pekins. Mine get in the cube easier than the ex batts. They aren't bad flappers so manage just fine
Luthien
You would worry or you wouldn't? if wouldn't PHEW! we've just got to wait for the BHWT in lincs to get back to us, have e-mailed and phoned(was only yesturday so will wait till monday before getting upset) so hopefully we can see when we can get some girls, so its either pink or red cube. I'd wish Omlet would do a purple AND green cube, purple on the normal coloured parts and green where the grey parts are, purple and green together are my fav colours
The Dogmother
My smaller pekin probbaly wouldn't have too much of a problem, but the bigger girl would - she's just not the slightest bit athletic

That's the thing they're just like little people, they're all different

Shirl
If only. I'm still breastfeeding and although H doesn't normally have a feed at night you can bet the one night I have a drink would be the night she wouldn't settle and would need a feed at 2am!
