TAJ
Nutmeg started laying this week - Tuesday two soft-shell (I also had 2 normal eggs on the same day from the other two); Wednesday a 80g double yoker; Thursday an 82g double yoker; Friday 2 more soft-shelled (and the usual 2 normal eggs from the other girls). Is this normal? Is she just getting the hang of it or am I going to get many double yokers from her - they only have one set of eggs in them - at this rate she will lay half the eggs, because the are double-yokers! Any advice? (p.s. no issue with diet they are on pellets and eating plenty of mixed grit. Tracy
AJuff
Our black Rock Darcy laid double yokers when she first came into lay but she settled into a laying routine and they are now a thing of the past. Good while they lasted!
hillfamily
It's quite common when they first come into lay, for them to lay double yolkers. Nothing to worry about - they'll settle down soon enough ..........and then you'll be missing the doubles
Egluntyne
It is very common for you to get double yolkers at first. Make the most of it! You don't get them once their laying tackle has settled down!.
TAJ
Thanks eglutine - another double-yoker from her yesterday - so far she has only laid a couple of soft shells and the rest of the week we have had double-yokers! Tracy
TAJ
It most be catching - nutmeg still only laying double yokers and now Bela (who hasn't had a day off since she started laying) has laid a double yoker as well! Tracy
