cluckbok
Hi, We have a columbine hen and the breeder said 70% likely she will lay blue or green eggs. But she doesn't she so far has laid white/ivory colour eggs. Will the colour change later? or do you think she will always lay the white/ivory colour? It doesn't matter we are really grateful for the eggs but was just wondering.
ubereglu
I doubt it I'm afraid. Hens eggs don't often change colour. But white/cream eggs are lovely too! The 70% thing probably means that about 70% of all the columbine hens will lay blue/green eggs, but it's not guaranteed. It's the same with any blue layer as not all cream legbars will lay green or blue eggs.
Snowy
I have one of those, a slightly different type of hybrid - araucana x sussex who was supposed to lay green eggs. But they are most definitely beige But she's a lovely hen (and a more regular layer than the blue eggers)
