hi

have had my 2 leghorns now for 3 weeks. the first one, martha started laying after the first week or so and marjorie was a few days after that.

we were so excited that we went and got another 2 but got gingernut rangers.

they are mary and maureen. mary is very friendly and from day one came up to me when i went into the pen.

they have not started laying yet but have only been here since saturday.

one of the leghorns seems to pick on them during the day, chasing them around and occasionally pecking at them.

i was also a bit concerned as they seemed a bit cramped in one eglu so i have bought another one. i am also hoping to add another 2 hens eventually.

i will have 2 red eglus when it arrives.

i know about the pecking order, its just a bit disturbing sometimes watching them.

the funny thing is the rangers are a lot bigger than the leghorns and i keep wanting them to chase the leghorns off!!!

ive built an enclosure in the garden and the current eglu and run fasten onto the side of it, i will do the same with the new one.
