Tessa the Duchess
My Annie seems to spend ages in the nesting box when she lays. I've been keeping an eye on her and today she spent nearly 3 hours in there! The problem is that now I only have the two chooks, Winnie gets a chicken form of separation anxiety she seems to hate being in the run on her lonesome and she has started bawking and bok boking whilst Annie lays an egg, this is driving me nuts, god knows what the neighbours are thinking. Anyway, how long should it take for a chicken to lay, is there something wrong with Annie, any advice would be welcome. Tessa
Egluntyne
Is she laying whoppers?
Tessa the Duchess
Is she laying whoppers? Nope, just normal 60ishgms. Should have said otherwise she is behaving completely normally, happy, eating drinking ok. I've had a look at her vent all seems normal, but I am so inexperienced I don't really know what to look for Tessa
Egluntyne
If she seems otherwise OK I shouldn't worry too much. My old favourite....Limestone flour.....will help boost her calcium levels which in turn may help strenghten the contractions required to shove the egg out.
