Scottie
We currently have a Mark 1 eglu and run and 2 Lohmann Browns who have now stopped laying. We're thinking of getting the Eglu Cube and adding 2 or 3 new chickens to the existing ones. Here is the big question. Do you think that if we move them all into their new home at the same time (when we get the Cube and the extra hens) that we won't have such a problem with pecking order as some others seem to have had? Or am I just trying to kid myself that it will all be okay? Thanks for your help
superjules
I'm guessing you'll have some argy bargy - but they might surprise you! Why not keep the old ones in the eglu, get the cube and new chooks, keep them separate but within sight of each other for 2/3 weeks, then chuck them all in together after that? You can then sell your eglu, if that's your plan, once you know they are all getting on ok, but keeping it in the short-term means you have options. Sod's law says it's only if you don't have alternative accommodation available to fall back on that it will all go pear-shaped.
Eyren
I would second Jules' plan - I had to buy an ark in a hurry after my latest attempt at introductions didn't work out
Scottie
Thanks for the help - that is my plan - to sell the old Eglu once everything is going swimmingly. I've been watching how well they're doing on Ebay but not quite so sure if it'll sell well around Glasgow. I suppose I could put in postage costs.
