Shelley Cockell
I got home from work tonight and with the clock change it was still light and the girls were still out in their run, so I let them out for an hour. Just before bedtime, Doris laid an egg on the patio! She's normally really good at using the nesting boxes so i was quite suprised. She must have been eager to have got some free-ranging in just dropped in on the spot!!! It's got a dent in the top so I'll have to have it for breakfast tomorrow before it spoils
Laura & CTB
How very strange - I had that happen on Monday. Prada has always used the nest box before but she was out and about and the next thing I knew there was an egg on the decking!
Egluntyne
I think they just get "caught short". We have had a few in the run and one on the grass before now.
Eyren
There was one on the roosting bars when I collected ours yesterday evening after work - I think there must have been a queue for the nestbox!
superjules
I found Sylvie's first in the henhouse, near the nestbox, so she either got up too soon or didn't quite get there quick enough, bless her!
Keanie Bean
One of mine laid in the run, but its only happened once. I think maybe they just prefered to be out for a bit after being in the run. Who can blame them Sarah.x
Lynn
Our Araucana hardly ever lays in the nesting box. We find eggs on the roosting bars, beside the Eglu, in the run. Anywhere Breatrix has been you can be assured of finding an egg. She's always on the move so never has time to sit still and meditate like the others do and watch the world go by as she lays an egg. It's all go, go, go!
