Guest
I was going to send this to Mr Harriot but I could not find his contact info anywhere on the web. I'm sure a lot of you don't buy cup soups anyway but I have bought his mediterranean cous cous in the past (and so may some of you) but not any more. Dear Mr Harriot I’ve been buying your range of cous cous for some time now and I noticed a range of your cup soups on the shelf of my local Co-op store today. I care greatly about how and where the food I eat is produced. I adopted some ex battery hens in October 2007 and grow quite a bit of my own fruit and veg. I buy locally sourced, free range meat and if I can’t, I do without. I assumed, with you being a chef of some renown, that I could trust that you felt the same and trust your products. However, when I examined the ingredients on the chicken and leek soup, it just said it contained “chicken” and did not specify if this was free range or not. As manufacturers who use free range chicken do actually label their ingredients “free range”, I can only assume that your product does not contain free range chicken. I am very surprised and upset by this. A chef in your position and with your celebrity status could and I think should care more about the ingredients in the products that carry your name. It goes without saying I’m sure that I will not be buying your products in the future, not until I can be sure that you are more ethical about the ingredients you use. I would like your comments on this matter and would like you to respond to my concerns. I look forward to hearing from you.
