Phosphorus
I want to hang a few things up in our developing run and was assuming things like CDs had to be on chains. Is that right - DH keeps asking why we can't just use some string. I think chains would be better as more weighty and the chickens won't have any danger from swallowing any string that got disattached. Am I correct that I should go and get some chains from Wilkinsons or the like (B&Q?) Thanks
superjules
I have my hanging feeder and drinker on chandelier chains (not as grand as they sound!), I think they were £1 a metre in Wilko.
ChickNic
I used to hang my feeders up with garden twine, but the clever girls chomped at the twine until the feeder fell to the ground and then gobbled everything up in 5 minutes!!! I would recommend a chain!
Egluntyne
With string there is always the danger of them eating it and getting an impacted crop.
BarbaraJ
i got some chain from b&q for my hanging stuff.
Phosphorus
Thanks those were the answers I wanted. Just needed back up to tell DH I was out to spend more money I think chains will look so much better anyway - I will be off to B&Q as soon as the man has come to service my house alarm Don't you just love it - told him to come today as we would be in waiting for cube to be delivered - you know the one that arrived a day early Couldn't resist - have been opening all the boxes - might try and build it tonight instead of going to my committee meeting
Olly
It never occurred to me that they would get the string off ... I had some CDs hung up, but mine showed no interest whatsoever, so I took them out again. The peck-a-block is hung on a bit of string though. It's so tight that even I can't get it undone to move it, so I don't think the chooks will get it! Might add 'chain' to the long list of stuff I need from Homebase when I go there on Saturday though. It's not ADT you're waiting for is it Phosphorus? I have bad memories of the burglar alarm at my last house ...
Phosphorus
It's not ADT you're waiting for is it Phosphorus? I have bad memories of the burglar alarm at my last house ... No worries its Complete Security - have used them for years and years - actually surprised he hasn't arrive yet - usually turns up within 5 mins of the earliest time they say he can arrive by Means I can't finish off painting the run doors until he has come
