moomin
Can I give my 8 - 10 week old chickens any supplements in their food/water? Before I got them I stocked up on Poultry Spice & Bokashi bran (the latter to help with poo smells), I was also going to get them some ACV to go in their water. But the breeder I got them from on Thursday said not to bother, just give them cod liver oil, one tbsp on their pellets 2 - 3 times a week. So now I am a bit confused - they are currently eating Organic Feed Company's Growers Pellets. Will that be enough at this stage? I don't want to feed them stuff they shouldn't have. Any advice greatly appreciated.
chelsea
We had our original 2 chooks from 8 weeks and we gave them poultry spice in their pellets and they were fine. I've never used ACV so Im not sure about that.
superjules
I'm a big fan of ACV, it has anti-bacterial, anti-coccidial and anti-fungal properties but I've never had chooks that young before. I can't imagine it would do them any harm, but I'm no expert. I've just used it to treat Yum-yum's sour crop so I think I will use it more often from now as a preventative measure. moomin
Thanks guys that's very helpful. I'll start using the Poultry Spice and maybe wait until they're a bit older before giving them the ACV.
