How Quickly Does Albendazole Work?

Am SO excited!

 

Tis Friday night and therefore only one more sleep before we fetch the long awaited chooks. Am actually pretty nervous too! Currently tapping feet and waiting impatiently for hubbie-to-be to arrive home so that we can put the aubiose in the nesting box (do I put it in the poo tray in the eglu as well?), secure the run down with pegs that he's SUPPOSED to be bringing from work, fit the plastic and shade over the run and then get the cat box ready to fetch them in.

I began without aubiose in the poo trays but soon added it to them as well. It does make it easier to clean them out - the aubiose tends to dry them out a bit. Bokashi bran is meant to help in the trays as well but haven't tried that yet (helps with smell I think but my girls poops aren't too smelly at moment ).

Have just been out to eglu. Have put aubiose around liberally around inside and filled nesting box with same said stuff. Debated whether to put sun shade on but have decided against it as will prob want to see chooks for abit and take piccies. Have also had glass of wine to calm nerves... may need more later, also chocolate, but then am supposed to be gaining weight some will definetly have some of afore mentioned items. Am now rambling, - effect of nerves and wine!

 

When girls arrive will put safley into eglu with layers pellets and move to other end of garden to watch and let them settle in. Owt else I should do? After an hour or so am planning to go up to run of eglu and see if can tempt new arrivals with grapes to start mummy-chook bonding. Is this right. Am rambling once again... mmm easy on the wine methinks!

When you get them home, pop them in their run and leave them to it for a bit, then you can start by just gently talking to them and popping a few treats into the run. They soon learn humans=treats=yum

 

When they go to sleep at night, open the egg port door and give them a stroke to get them used you touching them. They'll be sleepy so they will be calmer when you first go to touch them

 

Don't expect you'll get much sleep tonight.......have fun tomorrow and enjoy your girls

Hubbie-to-be and I have good fun this week thinking of names for chooks. We've not got a theme, just thought of ones we like. We're also hoping that the chooks characters will give us some ideas.

I think I need a bit of that - bought a bottle for myself this morning for tonight (not all of it) - DH is out with lads and I am to be catching up on a bit of missed TV. Chooks are now in bed..... yep need a bit of rambling wine

 

You sound just like me when I got my girls last Saturday - couldn't wait, was so excited. They are great - I still have to go out there everynight and see them to bed (even if it is about 45 mins before they actually go! )

 

I don't know if it works the same with the eglu but I put all my girls into the Cube itself when I got them home. They sat in it looking out for about an hour or two then ventured out. At bedtime they seemed to know exactly where to go which amazed me and okay it took them a while with the Cube ladder but they went to bed themselves without any help or torch from me

Am intending to leave the eglu door open at night. I presume on Sunday morning when I get up I just top up the grub with layers pellets and thats basically it until treat time in the afternoon. I can just watch them and get to know them. I'll probably pop out sunday and let the chooks settle in. I've bought some grapes today for them to try, have also got some apple and banana and mixed corn. I presume the apple can be raw for them.

Cheers! Just finished second glass of wine, hic! Now feel slightly less nervous but the alcohol is helping! Hic...

 

Don't think I've mentioned this before but I've got two house cats. Have sat em down and told em about the new arrivals. They seemed ok and have promised to chook watch during the say for me.

Have just been reading other posts re dust baths. My new chooks won't have one, does it matter? Will they create their own? Can I introduce one at a later date?

 

Ooooh am doomed to be failed chook mum!

I am hopeless with a few glasses of wine - fell asleep watching second episode of Waking the Dead

 

I have one ex-house cat. She is a burmese that now goes out of the house - she is eyeing up my girls everyday but I think she will get a shock when she finally does get up close to them. They will probably peck her for breakfast They haven't been let out to freerange yet.

 

Re: dustbaths - they will create their own in your flower beds - don't worry. Mine only used theirs today. I was just conscious that I hadn't let them out yet and probably won't let them out for hours on end (they have a big walk in run) as we have foxes around here - still haven't seen one in the garden yet (used to get them regularly).
