Advised not to eat eggs

Recommended Posts

As a new chicken person I'm learning every day about their needs and wants. Oh the responsibility!

Anyway, I telephoned Johnson's (the veterinary products company) yesterday, to ask whether the mite spray I have for my guinea pigs can be safely/effectively used on chickens (yes, it can).

However, I thought I would also pass on the advice they gave me, which is that because of the chemicals involved, after using anti-mite products you should apparently not eat the chickens' eggs for the following 72 hours.

Doh! I think exposure to the big yellow ball in the sky has gone to my head  It has only just occurred to me (!) that it would no doubt say that anyway on the proper anti red mite spray packaging. How embarrassing.

Putting it down to too much sun/a senior moment/lack of sleep with new chooks filling my dreams/ and the best excuse, chemotherapy addling the old brain cells.

Caroline
