daisymay
Hi Have just done my morning chicken check and 2 of my girls seem to have little hard crops. My husband has just told me he gave them corn late last night so is it possible it could be that that has not yet gone through the system? They are on grass and I give them layers pellets with oyster grit mixed in. I also throw grit around their 'area'. They freeranged yesterday for about 10 hours (only their second day out). All seem alert this morning but are not as ravenous as they were yesterday? Can't believe this is happening today when i am going away tomorrow for a few days! Is it possible they're just still full from last night or does that not happens with chickens? Advice please.............thanks again
Egluntyne
It is possible. I would keep a close eye on them over the next 24 hours or so....and don't give them corn last thing and see if it makes a difference in the morning.
daisymay
Just done another check and don't seem too bad now. Definitely not hard in the crop area. Have been out and bought maggots, yoghurt and olive oil just in case! Fingers crossed was just the late night feast! Won't be doing that again! Christian
I normally give mine corn a few hours before bed time. A small amount should be ok, but not too much. Glad they seem better today
