Mrs Frugal
Mmmmm, me too, Louise! What about something like an egg and bacon pie, Karen? Egg and Bacon Pie 1 shortcrust pastry case baked blind in a flan tin 4 rashers bacon - chopped - smoked is really nice! 3 eggs 1/4 pint milk 2-4 oz grated cheese seasoning pinch mustard powder chopped chives/parsley if desired Dry fry the chopped bacon in a frying pan until nice and crispy. Leave to cool. Beat the eggs with the milk in a bowl, add the seasoning, herbs and mustard powder and mix well. Spread cooked bacon into base of pastry case in flan tin and tip over the eggy mixture. Top with grated cheese and bake in a preheated oven at around 200C for 35-45 minutes until the filling is set. Eat hot or cold.
ubereglu
That sounds like an excellent recipe for my picnic tomorrow-lifesaver!
Guest
I'd agree. It's easy, tasty and filling - either hot or cold. I make it regularly, probably once a fortnight and it always goes down well with everyone - a remarkable achievement in my family. Thanks Kate! Mrs Frugal
Amazing how the children enjoy it so much! It's the only meal I do that the boys are enthusiastic about! Glad your family like it too, Ginette. I think these nice simple recipes are the best!
Cinnamon
Sounds lovley - a bit like the Quiche I make, but I would never have thought of putting mustard in, so I will give it a go next time
