Jen&Rog
I've just got a packet of limestone flour from Ebay and wondering how much to mix in with the girls' food? Just in the nick of time too because the Big Bird laid a soft egg today and is really moping about.. she's my only layer at the moment! Also I'm meaning to get some oyster shell stuff, but have a feeling they shouldn't eat it 'neat', does it get a bit stuck in the crops? Is this best mixed in with the usual layers pellets? Thanks for your help!
The Dogmother
You'll need roughly 1 tablespoon of limestone flour to a liter of pellets. If you're using that then you won't need oyster shell as they do the same thing. If they freerange then they won't need additonal grit (to help their digestion) either, but you shoudl add some if they are confined to the run.
