Country v Urban Foxes- any difference?

Recommended Posts

i certainly saw more in the suburb of the city i used to live in, got my rabbits on couple of occasions  I got there just as one was the other side of the fence once. And the 'lovely old lady' next door used to feed the 'poor foxes', although they were quite happy trying to take my bunnies thanks very much.

I grew up in the countryside and now live on the edge of a small rural town, don't see foxes ever.

We live a couple of minutes away from common land in a terrace house and have never seen foxes about in our garden, although they are around somewhere i am sure. Hopefully there would be easier places for them to find food then our garden but you can never be too careful. My mums garden backs onto the common and she hasn't seen any in her garden yet can see them in the fields opposite all the time!! Don't think country foxes are as brave, but desperate times.....

Never underestimate foxes.

In the cities and towns they have dustbins and do-gooders to feed them. In the country they take what they can - and they will.

As beautiful as foxes are they are still predators whether they live in the suburbs or the sticks and they are opportunists and highly intelligent.

I live in a little village surrounded by fields, woodland etc, I've seen a vixen and tiny cub recently and a half grown about 4 years ago. A fox took 5 of mine last year, a dog took one recently and a fox took one recently. (Out of the two I hate the dog more.)

Foxes are possibly more wary in the country as they're not used to human 'noises' i.e. cars etc

Then there are the mink...

I agree. Urban foxes are less scared of humans, and therefore more willing to venture into a garden during daylight hours or when there are people about, but that doesn't mean that a rural fox won't take the opportunity if he or she sees chickens around. Never underestimate them.
