Hi All,

 

Well the girls have been here 7 days and they are a huge hit with the whole family.........except the dog who will kill them at the drop of hat! (i`m gunna keep working on that!)

 

My question. The garden is currently 60% under water I have tad poles on the patio! (moved in from the pond) the girls are now confidently free ranging. Their feet are permantley caked in mud and they dont seem bothered by the rain at all. I have left a 6ft fence panel near the eglu so thay can shelter under it. The fact that they are getting on with it means to me that all is well. should I have any worries re rain, mud and wet feathers?

 

well off to the gardens under water forum for some horticultural advice!

Well my chickens have ample shade all round the pond (used to be called a lawn) and they seem quite happy to stand in the middle of the garden.

 

They are soaked and muddy and they dont care!

 

It tickled me that you have tadpoles on the patio.

 

The rain didnt soak away very well did it.

They seem to enjot the rain.

 

The only concern is if they get dried aked mud on their feet.....it can cause probs.

 

If they do, just a gentle soak will shift it.

We haven't had rain for a few weeks - isn't it incredible that some places can be so wet while others so dry? I've done mounds of washing in the last fortnight. Even today when it's a bit cloudy, it's still dry.
