Tessa the Duchess
Did anybody else see this brilliant documentary last night? The thesis was that mankind didn't exist anymore and how the planet would change without our interference. Staggeringly amazing computer graphics, showing how our cities would be taken over by vegetation, rivers and streams would re-establish themselves, wild animals would roam everywhere. In 300 years all paper and celluloid records would disappear, "Ooops, word censored!"ody would know what we looked like as a race In 1,000 years pretty much everything built by humans would totally disappear. Quite unsettling in a way, but it really made me feel that the planet would be better off without us Tessa
Nina
Hi Tessa the Duchess Yup - did see it, thought it was long, had trouble keeping my eyes open towards the end! I too had the feeling that the planet would be better of without us, and horrid realisation of the vast destruction humans have already caused. The oceanic damage really hit a nerve. Thought it was fabby to see nature 'claim back' the urban environment - felt like justice was being served. I loved that the old and ancient buildings - St Paul's Cathedral and Pyramids - would stand the test of time over skys"Ooops, word censored!"ers and the like. (My partner works at St Paul's, as did I once apon a time) How is it that all living things establish a balance -aside from humans? I think I am quite 'green' however, seeing that programme made me realise that I must do more....

Stevie
I thought the programme was very thought provoking and quite surreal when it said that nature would only take 10,000 years to completely undo everything we humans have accomplished.Sounds a long time, but thats for skys"Ooops, word censored!"ers, bridges, roads etc to completely dissapear.
