Cooks
Ok in request of Claret..here is my childrens favourite choccie cake I make them for their birthdays... Cake Ingredients For an 8 inch cake tin 7ozs sifted self raising flour 1 heaped table spoon cocoa powder added to flour and sieved through 8ozs castor sugar 8ozs butter/marg 4 eggs medium size will be sufficient - free range ofcourse!! 1 t spoon of baking powder again this can be added to the flour and sieved through. Simple as can be mix it all together in one large bowl cook in middle of the oven at 160c for 45 mins waaa laa Chocolate Sauce This is where the fudge taste comes in, it is up to you whether you want to fill the centre or just the outside, I only ever do the outside as that is how the children like it. 6ozs Soft Sugar 3ozs Butter or marg 6ozs GALAXY chocolate (200grams) 8 fluid oz's eveporated milk (220 mls) Place evaporated milk and sugar in a saucepan and heat until melted, do not allow to boil, let simmer for 6 minutes or so nthen add chocolate and let melt, then add butter This will produce a very nice fudgy sauce. I am no cake maker and this was passed to me by my SIL.. I have actually made it very successfully a few times though. If you do not heat the sauce for long enough it can be a tad runny so watch out for this. I hope you like it. Edited to add, obviously make sure you let the choccie sauce and cake cool before applying Edited May 28, 2008 by Guest

Cooks
It is very nice and I can even make it, which is saying something. I made it years ago for the first time for youngest son and covered it with smarties (his request) I put it in fridge to set and went back a few hours later... opened the fridge door and the cake had no smarties!!! took the cake out and the half my little son could not reach was perfectly intact with smarties, but he had stripped the front bare!.. I asked him, have you been eating smarties off the cake??? no he says with chocolate all around his mouth..

Cooks
my 10 year old had it for his last birthday with choccie buttons, also very nice I might add, but purely had to taste test didn't I! My SIL has covered my nieces with dolly mixture and those sweet necklaces, it's great against the chocolate.
