hi, i had three aylesburys. i got them when they were adults, im not sure how old they were. i managed to get them fairly tame quite quickly, they were fairly large insize and VERY noisey. i never got any eggs, biut that could have been due to age or because i didnt have them very long and thay might have just not settled in to the new home. they had great personalities.

Hi several years ago, we bought ou twins an aylesbury duckling each...about 1 week old. Our boys named them Lizzie and Annabelle. Aylesbury are very large ducks, and when young do make alot of noise. However, I seem to remember that ours calmed down after a while. You do'nt say how old your ducks are? If they are ducklings, then make sure you build or provide a big enough 'ark'/house for them. An old clean shed is ideal. Also they will need water......enough to dunk their whole bodies in.

They might have some info in your local library. As far as I know, aylesburys live quite a few years. Ours turned out to be two males....Freddie and George..renamed. They became depressed because they wanted to mate. So just down the lane, they had a pet farm with harlequin ducks and the river. So that became their new home, with our twins visiting them every day. The ducks became very happy and produced lots of offspring. Ducks are natural scavangers and make a bit of mess, so providing them with their own bit of land is a good idea. Good luck.

P.S. I seem to remember that when our ducklings were really tiny, we made a sort of nest in their house and lined it with artificial fur fabric. We felt that they were so tiny to leave their Mom, though they probably never had a Mom. But anyway, Im sure also, that we filled a hot water bottle with warm water, covered that with the fur fabric, andthat stopped them crying. Like all creatures, ducklings get a bit upset when they are first moved and they need comfort. Call me soft, I know I am, but they did settle quickly :)
