Ordered a Cube....now what to put in it!!

Recommended Posts

We already have 3 girls and would love to get some ex-batts for our new Cube :D

I know that we would need to keep the ex-batts separate, which we would keep the Eglu for in the short term, but would we ultimately be able to put the ex-batts in with our existing girls in the Cube? If they are not supposed to mix, then we would need to get 'normal' chickens rather than ex-batts.

Our garden is not big enough long term for both a Cube and Eglu, so we would be looking at selling the Eglu once the new chickens are settled in.

If ex-batts were to go in the Cube with our girls how long would it be before we could do this?

Could somebody confirm that 6 chickens in a Cube with extension is ok?

They will be fine. I have my ex-batts mixed with my other hens.

You are right to give them a period of quarantine in the Eglu.

It would be a good idea to place it where they can see and hear the other hens, to get them used to eachother in a small way.

You might find that you need an extension on the cube as many find ithe basic cube run a bit cramped for six.
