Cyber Chook
Hello again all, thank you once more, and once it stops raining (good forecast for tomorrow, yay!), I'll sort out a better cover for the run, and that should improve things a lot. It's not so much the cube and run bothering me, though, more the fenced off 'lawn' for them, which was turning into a mudslide, with certain extra slippery bits provided at a quite alarming rate by my five lovely ladies. Not wanting to play the sympathy card (well, ok, maybe a little), I broke both arms in January, so I'm somewhat anxious about slipping again. It was on yoghurt in the supermarket. At least I'd have a softer landing if I slipped (and landed) on chicken poo But all things come to pass, don't they, and once the sun comes out the whole area will turn into a baked, cracked desert anyway - ah, the joys of clay soil But anyway, it's been brilliant and reassuring hearing how others also felt overwhelmed at first. I can now sleep easy, knowing that the chicken police aren't going to come and arrest me if I don't clean out the poo trays every day. Even just slacking off in that department has made things a lot better I have to say I feel very honoured that so many people have taken the time to boost my flagging spirits. Keeping chickens seems to attract the nicest people (hey, that must mean me, too!). Caroline

Abbey Road Girl
Good grief, Caroline, you broke two arms in January? (Where is the emoticon for horror?) Omlet or Her Majesty ought to award you some sort of medal for coping at all!!!!!!

Ain't Nobody Here
I broke both arms in January, so I'm somewhat anxious about slipping again. It was on yoghurt in the supermarket. Oh my word . Have you totally recovered from that? I can't imagine managing with one broken arm let alone two . I hope you got free groceries for a year from the supermarket . cathybc
hello again, so glad you are feeling a bit more definitely get the teenagers to help - it is great you have some that can do a bit, and after all you have been through, they need to give you a lift (even if accompanied by mutterings of 'its so unfair!' etc !!!) re slipping - I am the clumsiest person ever and swear by my crocs for slippy gardens; but I cannot promise they will work for anyone else, I would hate for someone to slip over wearing some after reading this..... Cyber Chook
'Luckily' it was my elbows, which have to be kept mobile while healing, and therefore shouldn't be plastered. So although it was tough, at least I could (painfully, carefully) attend to....personal needs, shall we say...without needing any assistance And yes, Crocs are fantastic aren't they, although it didn't take long to realise that wearing them without socks is not to be recommended around chickens Caroline
