Moving and eglu with converter and extension

Recommended Posts

I have 3 chooks in an eglu and standard run who free-range most of the time, but have just ordered the converter AND extension to give them more space on days we can't be around or go on holiday. I'm now starting to panic about whether we will still be able to move it around the garden - we are lucky enough to have plenty of space and 2 people to move it.

Does anyone else move such a monster ?

We find if we move it once a fortnight the lawn recovers pretty well and the garden doesn't seem to suffer and the chooks keep in a clean environment, so I don't really want to keep it static.

Many Thanks

I have only a converter on mine, but keep it in one place.

I can just about manage to drag it around by myself on run cleaning days, & find it much easier to do when the top of the eglu has been taken off, as it's lighter to move then. Hope that helps!

Thanks Jules

I haven't even thought about moving it before putting the top back on !!

I must be VERY stupid as I've been cleaning it, putting it all back together then moving it for almost 2 years !!

I'm sure that will make a big difference

My sister has 2 standard runs fitted together along with a converter, and I find the easiest way to move that is by unscrewing the eglu from the run then carrying them separately. You can carry the run by itself by grabbing the middle, top part of the run and it all sort of folds in on itself and can be carried quite easily for a 5.4m run!

But that is just when I do it on my own. If there is 2 of you then the best bet might be leaving the roof of eglu off.
