Just wondered if anyone knows anything about or has been to Wellgate community farm in Essex?

 

It's in Collier Row I think.

We are thinking that we may take a trip there but just wondered if anybody knew anything about it before hand.

never been - but have often thought about going! I know a couple of youth groups who have enjoyed going..

 

if u let me know when u plan to go - maybe I'll bring my youngest daughter along and we can have a mini-meet!

I originally come from Gidea Park (nr Romford) in Essex. Never heard of Wellgate Community Farm, but will have to ask my sister who still lives that way. Should be an interesting day out though.

My eldest did his work experience there three years ago and had a great time and found the staff really friendly. He even milked the goats! It was his experience there that started us thinking about keeping chickens.

 

I've never visited so don't know how long a visit would take but have found their website http://www.wellgatecommunityfarm.org.uk/

 

If you do decide to go I'd be happy to pop up for a meet too (Phil, you could even pick me up en-route!)

I was looking round their site last night - and it gave me an idea for one of Carys's birthday presents - she can have a part share in a pig or a goat - and go up to visit it - then we can get rid of her on saturday mornings in the Young Farmers Club (free labour to muck out the animals!) - she'd love it!!
