Lewis
I have some cayenne peppers growing in the greenhouse and I need some help. They are "Pepper (HOT) Cayenne" (Capsicum annuum). The packet of seed says they can be grown inside in pots or growbags or outside in the soil and that the peppers can grow up to 10cm, but nothing else about size. What I want to know if anyone has ever grown them is how tall and wide do they grow? I am planning to put them in the soil in the gap: I just need to know how many plants to put in and if they need support or not. Thanks
Charlottechicken
I am sure that's what I grew once Not high at all, maybe 45 to 60cm, and quite narrow too. I believe I grew them in a pot on the windowsill, sorry it was years ago
Matthew
I plant my peppers about 18" apart
chickencam
Chillies tend to prefer a hot greenhouse, but I have grown them in pots outdoors. They sometimes need some support it depends on how tall they grow, and if they are open to the wind.
Lewis
They sometimes need some support it depends on how tall they grow, It is not too windy as there is a fence to the left. Would bamboo be ok?

Lewis
I dont really know how to word this do you have one bamboo pepper up one pole, or do you have the bamboo made into a frame? Hope that makes sense.
chickencam
Just stick a cane in by each plant and loosely tie the plant to it
Lewis
They are only small at the moment but I will try it. Thanks
chickencam
If they are only little you can leave it until they grow a bit more.

Lewis
They are still quite small, waiting for some sunshine
chickencam
They do need a bit of heat to grow well. Something that I have found out recently is that chilli plants are perenials so they will carry on for more than one year but you would have to dig them up as soon as the weather turmed colder in the autumn and keep them either on the window sill or in a greenhouse to protect them from frost then aparently they will grow again produce nore flowers and chillis the next summer
