Hi - I candled my eggs last night. They are Cream legbar X Vorwerk. 8 days gone & all are fertile! Hooray!

I'm really happy as I have seen what the outcome will look like. The lady I had the eggs from calls them her own special breed name - Smallwood Peaches. :D

So, they will be due on 1st July - got to play the waiting game again now.

The eggs in the incubator are a very very pale blue tinted colour - like duck eggs. I have been told that any females hatched could also lay blue eggs. But she also has some that lay beige eggs. I don't mind what they lay, they will still be pretty looking hens / cockerels. I suppose I could get one looking more like a vorwerk, than a cream legbar. Hers do look very cream legbar, but lots of buff & black sort of splash markings - gorgeous they are.

I'll keep you up to date with photos for sure!

I was offered a beautiful gold dutch bantam cockerel from her if I wanted him. He was beautiful. But I don't have any bantams yet & it would be unfair to have him wandering with my big girlies on his own. So I'm waiting for now - he's not going anywhere. My sister is collecting a pair of pekins from her soon ( a black cockerel & a lemon cuckoo hen) & the other dutch bantam cockerel. She is a good friend of my sisters & has some lovely hens & cockerels, ducks - oh & 2 llamas. I love going there & looking at everything running around! :D
