4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

We are going to get our ladies on Saturday, all being 6, our worry is that they will be in a run 6ft in lenght and 3ft wide whilst we will be at work.

 

Will the run be alright to accommodate them, we are going to have a 6ft extension fitted in a couple of weeks.

Perhaps someone more expert will give you an answer soon. But.....methinks thats a bit of a tight sqeeze. Because it is all so new to them they will probably be alright. I would strongly suggest hanging at least 2 hard white cabbages up for them so they have something to peck at. It will be great when you get your extension. Good luck with your hens. What breed are you getting?

What age are the chickens you are picking up?

 

I think that it probably is a little on the small side for 6 but if you are going to be expanding it in the next couple of weeks you might get away with it if they are young.

 

The problem you may have is those first weeks are when the chickens will be sorting out their pecking order, a small run will mean they won't be able to get away if one chicken bullies another.
