Hi

I said hello in the newbie section, but I thought I'd ask in here for help identifying my girls. I inherited them a few weeks ago but have no idea what breed they are. Any ideas?

I have a chicken that looks exactly like your darker one and I was told it was an ISA brown when I got it from a local children's farm. They are a French breed, initially bred to be battery hens.

ah interesting. I've had others say gingernut rangers as well, I may try to get better pics tomorrow and see if that helps. Thanks for replying.

The one on the right looks like a Goldline to me.

They look like my gingernut rangers, who vary in colour from almost blonde to deep russet.

All the ones mentioned are pretty much the same breed - a rhode island red x light sussex, known as gingernut rangers, goldlines etc. The ISA brown is similar, but has been bred to the stage where it is now a breed in it's own right, rather than a hybrid.

 

They are lovely girls.

brilliant, thanks everyone for your replies. I will go with the majority and say they are Gingernut Rangers (and as my football team is Rangers they fit in very well lol)
