BeckyBoo
Sorry to hear about the results for Marmite. So glad she's well in herself though, and sometimes the cure can be worse than the disease so at least she hasn't got to have any awful treatments yet. Fingers crossed she keeps well, at least the diabetes management must be making her feel loads better and hopefully that will help her battle the cancer. Lots of love Mrs Bertie
Seagazer
Sorry to hear this latest news, at least she has improved from where she was and is feeling ok. I hope she stays well for as long as possible. Sending big hugs.
Yorkshire Pudding
Thank you both, and everyone else who's been so supportive. This is such a fantastic forum. I had the first tentative discussion with the children yesterday about what all these test results mean in the short and the longer term. ES was very upset to realise that he would, eventually, lose his pet. We had a few tears, then Marmite walked in purring and cuddled up to him because she could see he was upset. He was thrilled and tearful in equal measure. YS hasn't really understood yet, but we'll keep talking in the hope that both boys will be as prepared as they can be when things do change. BeckyBoo
Good idea preparing the children, it will never be easy losing a pet but children are very resilient. It's awful but it is the natural scheme of things that if you own animals ten you're fairly sure to outlive them, and I thik it's a good way for children to start to understand the cycle of life. Sounds a bit harsh or a bit airy fairy but it's what I thik anyway. Glad Marmite is still purring and cuddling up though, that's nice to hear, Mrs B
Olly
Sorry to hear it, but glad to hear that Marmite is still in good spirits and looking well. It is awfully hard facing the inevitable, but your sons will survive it, and learn from it. Tell them it's never easy, even when you're a grown-up! Hope Marmite continues in (relatively) good health for a while.
