4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

I have seen peckaballs mentioned on here a few times and other chicken 'toys' . Where can I get things like this form (not through the internet as I dont shop online ) I'm going on hols soon and as the girls wont be out so often to free range I want to get them some things to keep them amused while we're gone.

I use the ones that Pets at Home sell - Bird seed bars that are 'held' together with honey - not suet/fat.

In my run is:

 

- a big log to sit on.

 

- an old shower curtain pole suspended between bars as a perch (could use a broom handle or thin branch).

 

- dustbath

 

- metal food ball (which I stuff with brocolli ends, cabbage etc). I got mine in a local pet shop but you can see a picture of one in the Omlet shop.

I buy seed bells from the garden centre (are they the same as peckaballs ? )

Do you leave seedballs etc. in run all of the time or just at treat time?

Leave them in, especially if the are to be confined to the run for long periods, ie when you are out at work etc.

Mine looked at the Pecka Block and couldn't be bothered - its been in the run since Xmas now!

That's why I'm dithering over buying a peckabloc - they're quite expensive with the P&P if the girls don't like it .

Hen Watch I have the perch sorted and will be outting in a dust bath tomorrow, but I like the idea of a log to sit on (off to send OH hunting throught the woods for something suitable )

Got any old Ikea shoe racks ? They make brilliant perches!

lol, fab photo!! For my perches OH used some old poles from a Gazebo we had, just tied 2 together and hey preto!

mine love seed bells (made from honey) we get them from the garden centre, they get one during the working week hung up in the run along with a strip of millet. They also get broccoli and a corn on the cob to peck at.
