I am off to the horsey shop to buy..

a bag of bliss bedding (they don't seem to sell the hemp stuff)

grit if they have it

 

Is there anything else I need to add to my Omlet order or get from elsewhere? Do I need an Omlet winter cover?

A washing up bowl to put in run as dust bath.

 

things I am thinking of getting are Aubiose, garlic powder and purple spray stuff that people keep talking about.

Maybe a silly question , but what do you use the shower curtains for? Protecting the run from the rain?

oh and I have ordered some citronella from the health food shop.

Trying to source as much as I can from local shops although I went into one of our local petshops to ask if they would be able to get me aubiose or something like it and noticed thatthey had eggs for sale for 80-p for 6, I asked him where they were from and he went very red ad said they are not free range. Not so bother3ed about supporting that business then.

Yolky, as long as you have eglu, chooks, water and feed from day 1 you will be fine. Seems like you have already listed all my other "nice to have" items as well so you will be well set up when they arrive.

 

I only used my shower curtain in winter and it's off now so my chooks don't oven bake in the sun. My run does have 2 Omlet shades - the original free triangle one plus the winter shade. So if you are getting a free shade with your re-con eglu that will be fine. If they are not supplying one at all then I would go for a winter shade. It is a good alternative to the fun shade as it covers a longer stretch of my eglu and you angle it down one side and it keeps off the rain too.

 

I have lots of other bits that I have collected as well but I got them over the course of 1 year as and when I needed them - not essentials but used for specific purposes when I came across the need (like limestone flour, apple cider vinegar, flubenvet wormer, Auboise bedding). Like I say though, don't rush out and get these yet, stick to what you've got and you will be fine for when your girls arrive.

Yolky, you haven't mentioned feeders in your list. I know feeder/drinker come with the eglu, but you might want to get a couple of spares to reduce arguments between your girls. Handy to put out in the garden too if you are able to let them out to play.
