Ex-batts on Freecycle

Recommended Posts

On Sunday someone posted a 'Wanted' for a chicken coop or house for 6 ex-batts she was getting.

Yesterday same person posted an 'Offered' for ex-batts to be rescued on 26/27 July. Seems genuine and gives info similar to that on the BHWT site. Charging £1 each so they can continue to help them. (not really freecycled)

Today someone else posted a 'Wanted' for some posts and chicken wire to make a run for some rescued chickens they are getting.

Doesn't sound right to me but am I worrying over nothing? I just feel that freecycling might not find the best homes for these girls. What do you think?

I have to say I agree Rona, I don't like seeing any animals on Freecycle and there's been a definite increase in people posting wanteds for chicken housing. Whilst I think it's absolutely right to reuse and recycle it always makes me think that they're not prepared to pay out for their pets, plus I really worry that a lot of people are getting hens as the latest "must have". As Clash City Rocker said ages ago, "chickens are the new rock 'n' roll!"

Lets just hope we don't see hens being given away en masse when the next "thing" comes along..... :?

Given there are waiting lists for ex-bats it does sound odd for them to be offered on freecycle. Might be genuine attempt to help but you do wonder if it's someone thinking better of it...

I don't think freecycle is the place for pets...
