Just a question - do rescue chickens usually lay eggs as soon as they arrive - are they still going if you see what I mean!

 

We are getting 4 this weekend - not really for eggs more for pets, but I wanted to know if they lay straight away or will there be a period of re-adjustment?

I think, from what I have read, is that some lay straight away but some may take a little bit to get over the stress. Fingers crossed you will have eggs for breccy on sunday

One of mine laid me an egg in the cat-carrier on the way home and all the others laid on the first day, but I'm not sure how usual this is. Mine have never stopped laying (except Joy, who's now freeloading ) and average 4-5 eggs a day between them.
