BooBoo
Just thought I would share a tip on how to clean out g-pig and rabbit water bottles. When you are cleaning out the bottle, put a about 10 uncooked grains of rice in with some water and shake the bottle....cleans it perfectly! (It works especially well if the sun has started to make the bottle go a bit green - and believe me, it is a lot easier than trying to use kitchen paper!) SarahCavy
Yes, that's would work well. The only thing I would mention is don't shake the bottle with the screw on spout on top otherwise a grain could get stuck in the tube and block it and/or go rotten and cause a bad upset stomach. Another idea is a baby's bottle brush.
SAB
I have used both the rice and the bottle brush techinique and find them most helpful.
pelicano
I use the rice method, but I also follow up with a soak in Milton sterilising fluid (including the lid). Works brilliantly.

rayw1975
Hi id like to just mention that the best thing for cleaning a water bottle is a nettle!!! you will not beleive the way it takes the green from the sides like a magnet. just pick about a 4 inch piece rather than individual leaves that are a pig to get out again, add an inch of water and shake MAGIC I actually keep a patch of nettles especially for this GO give it a go now!!! rayw1975
my mother used to breed rabbits and we always used nettles (and never got stung) my dad used to say nettles dont sting this time of year, its only when i grew up that i realised he said that all year round!!!
