Would this idea be viable?

Recommended Posts

I have read all about the cube modification so you can get in to it easier. Well I have a normal eglu and run. I have just got a converter and extention. This means it will be one loooooonnnggg run. So I was wondering what people thought of this idea.....

I was going to take one of the pieces of run in the second meter of the run from the eglu and take off the clips for that bit and use the velcro or clips that others are talking about using for the modification of the cube. That way all the other pieces would be clipped together but that one piece you would be able to un velcro and remove completely therefore you would have run access about half way down for ease of poo picking and adding fun things for chooks.

What do you think? Or am I fruit loop?

sounds like a brilliant idea, wish I'd thought of that when I had the Eglus. The observation I will make is that the Velcro ties are a bit fiddly - I'm going to get some sort of snap clip or trigger clips for mine, to make it quicker.

Also, the Cube 'conversion' is off the ground - it's either hinged from the top, or the side. You'll need to join the skirt, on the ground, as well as the sides and top of the run - the Velcro ties on that bit could get a bit mucky. That shouldn't be a problem, they are not that expensive, but it might be preferable to invest in some sort of clip that's easier to release?

Do post some pics when you've done this - you could start a trend!
