Today was our first "full house" for egg laying with Porsche finally laying her first egg. One of the eggs had blood smeared on so presumed her's as first time..

 

Is this common? I have checked her vent and all looks fine so just presume she bled a little during the lay.. anyone else had this?

Yes my speckled lays an egg speckled in blood every time she lays!! I have tried to stop her from laying, to heal but still she lays a speckled egg. She is fine, lays same as other no stress noticed. Her vent & everything appear fine.

One of my Pepperpots lays eggs with blood smears sometimes, don't worry if her vent seems fine it is probably just a small blood vessel that is a bit weak. Mine hasn't done it for a while despite now laying eggs that are 85g+.

She layed her 2nd egg yesterday and this didn't have any blood although the egg was very "gunky".. she just must be having a harder time getting used to the whole process as her vent all looks fine still.. my others all started laying very cleanly hence concerned so than you for the reassurance
