drliz
I have 2 lovely moggy cats, who come & go as they please through a cat flap... at least, they did until this afternoon... so we set the stage with: one cat out in garden, trying to get in to have tea, one cat in house, needing to visit the flower beds, 3 chickens pottering about fertilising my patio (grrr...!) and tapping on the cat flap trying to figure it out. (some chance!) chickens suddenly decide to hold cat flap hostage - if they can't use it, then neither can the cats!! A most amusing stand off ensued... Cats trying to look cool, and not bothered, it must be very uncool to have a chicken stop your coming & going, chickens not giving an inch, and i was laughing too much to intervene, and also trying to spoon pureed carrot into my baby in the kitchen. I'm just hoping the chickens are too thick to work out the cat flap - mind you, these are the chickens i've had to rescue 3 times (i've only had them 2 weeks) from the greenhouse - they can get in, but can't figure out they have to turn round to get back out again, rather than just tapping pathetically on the glass Bless! I also hope the cat's don't decide to take revenge - they've mostly been ignoring the chickens til now. Chickens are fab - best entertainment ever. 6month old baby is fascinated, watches them for ages. just like her mum! Liz

josephine77
Fantastic! - I have a similar issue with my catflap and two cats - the poor cats now have now have to make a run for it in order to get in or out, to avoid being pecked by the 2 ferrocious chooks who think they own the patio. The tapping on the glass thing always makes me laugh too.

Abbey Road Girl
Chicken Psycology 101: Hens are bold and brave and curious. And can be a bit dim sometimes (one of mine has yet to figure out that the Omlet run isn't something she can run through when she wants to)! A cat flap isn't the only flap they get into! The Spencers
We used to think the best distraction for our 8 month old was his two and a half year old brother until we got our chooks. Now he sits entranced on the floor watching them throgh the french doors Who needs a TV the chooks make a much better baysitter . . . and no square eyes!! chicken crazy
That really made me laugh and cheered me up after a very long day at the office. Im hoping my chooks (why do we call them that?) will do the same when they arrive. 23 days to go!
