LJ's Chooks
Is Bokashi bran the same as wheat bran.... Botley mills have started selling loose bran.... is it the same???? the woman in there who knows all about chooks just thinks i'm mad and scowls when i ask a question.... I think i've asked too many and she doesnt approve of omlet and is old school. Handy at times, but she makes me feel like a fly in my chicken run
stoice
To quote wiggly wigglers web site 'Bokashis is a dry mixture of bran and molasses that has been inoculated with Ems or Effective microOrganisms... a carefully controlled mixture of microscopic bacteria, yeasts and fungi that work together to speed-up composting, suppress pathogens, prevent putrefaction and eliminate foul odours' Wheat bran I imagine would not have the EM organisms added. Hope this helps
Chicken Licken
Not the same I'm afraid. Bokashi is treated and smells of molasses. Wheat bran is just brans - I feed it to mine in porrige to help to feed up fenny who is very scrawny at the moment - she gets bokashi too!! I get mine from wiggly wigglers and swear by it for poo reduction
Egluntyne
You can get it on ebay and the prices are competitive. It firms poos up nicely and helps stop them ponging. Great stuff for that. On the other hand, I didn't get on particularly well with Bokashi Bins.
