Mutrix Farmers
OH raked over the bark in the hen run a couple of days ago and found a buried egg. It has a slightly rough shell, so it must be Henrietta. I'm quite happy to use it as the run is raked over 3 times a week (to fill in the enormous holes the girls dig!) I brushed off the bark, and now it's sitting on the egg skelter looking very grubby (I only wash just before I use them). The girls also bury their porridge bowl, it's often 6 inches below the surface the following morning!!
Snowy
Two of mine lay in the run occasionally. They always seem to have sandpapery shells. Wonder if they know the egg is different? Can't be the elements as our run is covered
dancing cloud
I've had a couple of eggs laid in the run, usually when the queue for the nestbox has been too long and they couldn't hold on any longer. If Daisy top-hen is in the nestbox, there's no chance of sharing, so it can take a while bfore that last one gets a space
