OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Result!!!!!!!

Yay, this is brilliant stuff, oh forget the stupid non working (at least for me and a few friends... anti peck spray..rhe)

We put lulu & chikky out of the netting, let sasha out of the omlet porch so she could walk around, so the scene is set... lulu is going potty trying get back in to kill off sasha.

And ever mindful of doing this butt naked and with rubber gloves..an altogether different kettle of fish..L ...I press the nozzel and spray..................

You know its half an hour since doing it and I can still smell it outside!

Anyway the smell yes is of manky old ciggy butts and probably chewing tobacco thats been placed in a spitoon... for a very long time... IF I could have detected creosote I would have been so much happier, its not bad, bit like Jeyes, but I know its a like or dislike smell for some people...

Anyway I let chikky and lulu in, lulu duly dashes to fang* sasha gets a tiny nip veers off in abject horror and begins to furiously wipe her beak..

Then chickky thinks, yay.... I`l have my wicked way and so he tries.... and doesnt even get within 3 inches before hes off!

I was killing myself laughing....

I do feel very sorry for poor sasha because when she goes to preen she too will get the taste but I do think its been worth it as shes a lovely little chicken.

So my vote goes to Ukadex and Nil points for Anti Peck Spray

Thanks for that post, I've ordered mine from Bowden and Knights this morning, I bet firms that do 'pay by cheque on delivery' are rare as hens teeth ( sorry  ) Anyway, I'm hoping it will arrive tomorrow as Ozzy is in coventry at the moment ( with Nora to keep her company as she was starting to copy Ozzy ) Ozzy loves eating feathers, ok when she's just 'hoovering up ' the run, but she then discovered that my dozey favorelle will happily sit and let Ozzy pull feathers off her like some kind of feathery buffet :o

RHE..you have to wonder what posseses them dont you..well I do hope your can turns up asap, was it the very nice lady on the phone? I had a very funny convo with her!

I`ve come to the conclusion that the smell isnt as bad / noxious as one is led to believe, its not nice thats for sure and its lingering power is quite astounding, the garden section where the chicks are is about an acre or there abouts and you can still smell this stuff even now as the breeze blows.

Its 21.00 and Ive just gone to see if they have gone in ..chuckles..hmmmmm its going to be a pongy night with the door closed thats for sure!

Its a very heavy* type of smell, as mentioned quite horrid old tobacco butts and tarry, do wear disposable rubber gloves as it is also rather sticky/tarry in feel..and if its on a white bird they will get stained yellow I suspect for a while...

And I`m quite certain friends would arch a brow if they caught a wiff thats for sure...

And for those with over loving cockerells it certainly puts them off!

Chikky keeps thinking he will* but veers off..quite amazing.

My friend has horses and she was wondering if it would stop hers chewing the fencing so shes going to try it too..

My poor girls are now wearing eau d'ukadex as a cologne, all round their ears heads & necks to stop the naughty Willow from giving them a short back & sides :shameonu:

As it needed to go close to their eyes I didn't want to spray the stuff, so I sprayed some into an old jar & used a paintbrush to wipe it where I felt it should go....also as the Orpies are such monsters to catch I waited 'til they'd gone to bed :o how mean is that  ?!

Poor Buffie fought tooth & nail to stay in the cube but when I tucked her back in through the nestbox door, she just snuggled down with her head hanging over the divider, so she must have been asleep instantly!

DH must have been up wind of the jar, because he kept saying "this isn't too bad, I can't smell anything" then he followed me and the jar back towards the house & got full force "oh yes it's quite acrid really isn't it" King of the understatement my man  !

I wore a disposable "babygrow" and gloves, although the chooks soon put paid to the gloves - they are well & truly shredded! I've washed my hands in fairy washing up liquid and tea tree oil, and I can still smell it, perhaps it's just up my nose!! May go up for a hot shower, just in case!! I may be asked to sleep elsewhere tonight..........

LOL..thats funny... so did you sleep elsewhere?

I let mine out again this morning and was rubber gloved up and can in hand.... Lulu dashed out, as did Chikky and a certain amount of argie bargie went on so I re-sprayed Sasha, and whilst Lulu was still content to chase, the desire to get a beak full was scuppered again, so I think I will spray each morning until theres no point for Lulu to do it...

The eglu smells deeeevine!!! L

I opened up the roof of the cube to air it for a while & the smell is all over the garden! I left the Ukadex outside the back door last night & get a lungful everytime I go out!

My chooks will be very happy that I am not going to be mauling them for the duration of the Ukadex use!!!

No I snuggled up & slept in my bed - mind you my clothes (despite wearing the overalls) went straight in the washing machine last night!!

How often do I need to reapply? I can't see my parents doing it over the weekend!

Laughing..omg..too funny..you poor thing.. hmm I suspect that if you give them a good ole* dose before you go away they should be fine, its a lingering type of thing thats for sure!

And perhaps if they have had a beak full and its up their noses ( I noted I could faintly smell it at the other end of the barn in a bathroom and that I think was because I still had some in my nose..eek...)

They should think carefully about continuing..

I`ve been out again to see them and whilst Lulu is keeping an eye in that wicked way she does I`ve noted... shes just chasing but not pecking or trying to bite...

Perhaps yours will be perfectly good over the weekend for you....?

Ah thanks very much for the info, i've just phoned up and ordered a bottle, they must be wondering where all this business is coming from!! The lady there knew the price off the top of her head £13.17 inc VAT & postage. I'm not looking forward to applying it though!

LOL..thats very funny..shes probably thinking that somethings up thats for sure.

But wasnt she nice?...

As for my problem, yep the Ukadex worked a treat, no more violence before egg laying thats for sure, it certainly helped by keeping the other 2 away from her, but I`m sure it will make a yucky mess on any chicken thats pale in colour thats for sure..but needs must and all that.. it does go after time.

By the way I`m glad someone on here mentioned the Ukadex in the first place, the anti peck spray must only work on budgies! rhe.

Good luck when your can arrives.. let us know what happens please :D
