Guest
German composer is Engelbert Humperdinck. (There was a classical composer called this and the pop singer used his name) Shangri-Las is how it's spelt, I think.
motherhubbard
only need 2 more now Little Devils 3,7 "Afternoon Delight" 8,5,3 this one is song lyrics, i can find info that it was done by "Starland Vocal Band" which is 8,5,4 so maybe there was an error on original quiz sheet. Half a Builders Yard i think refers to half of the words "builders yard" which would then be an anagram of 6 of the letters I got "Darius"
Guest
I can't think of any 3 letter words meaning little except 'wee'. Pop is not my thing really, so I can't think of anything. Devils - baddies? can't think of anything else here either! Sorry! Great quiz though!
Cinnamon
I think Karma (7) will be Nirvana

Guest
great work Sarah! Why didn't I think of Nirvana? My daughter lives in her Nirvana hoodie - no literally! I have washed it 3 times since she got it in February (yuk!) She thinks I will shrink it and anyway she wears it all day every day so I have to grab it whenever I get the chance (not often)! Good thing it is black!
Guest
I think Karma (7) will be Nirvana it could be - it depends on how clued-up the question setter is! but the clue isn't very good if the answer is Nirvana.. Nirvana is the state of eternal unconscious repose (ie - no pain, no joy - just non-conscious repose) - it's a Buddhist thing! Karma is the record of actions from your life (lives) - the consequences for which are determined by the intention of the actions... (it's a Hindu thing!) Nemesis is a Greek thing - the Goddess of retributive justice - which is a lot closer to the idea of Karma (actions have consequences according to intention) so... I think the answer that best fits the clue is Nemesis - though Nemesis (the 80s hip-hop band) were a lot less famous than Nirvana (the 90s Grunge band) but - there is no accounting for the judgement of the quizmaster, whoever that may be! Karma has as much in common with Nirvana as Lily Savage has with Ian Paisley... Phil

Cinnamon
Thats what I thought too Phil, but I was thinking of the whole Karma/Nirvana/spritual thing & how the words are sort of associated with the Hippy movement. Not a true link as you say,but it is a tenuous one Do you think The Monkees is right? I think so
Guest
possibly - except that Motherhubbard already has the Monkeys (your spelling is correct - it's Monkees) for a previous answer: "aping around (3,7)" - and I doubt they'd have the same answer twice... Guest
I love these discussions. I wish I had more knowledge to help with. It's not that I haven't heard of any of them, just they're not available to me in my brain! 'The monkees' doesn't include the 'little' in the clue very obviously, which was why I wondered about Wee (tiny, small, mini etc all being too long)
Cinnamon
D'oh.......Aping around is Gorillaz of course I thought Little devils...Monkees...as in the kids are being..... Do we get to find out the answers?
Guest
D'oh.......Aping around is Gorillaz of course ...except it's "aping around" (3, 7) - so Gorillaz doesn't fit the word/letter count I thought Little devils...Monkees...as in the kids are being..... that makes sense if we can find another answer to "aping around" but hey - let's leave some for motherH's hubby Martin to get!
