Joanne Posted August 29, 2008 Share Posted August 29, 2008 Bit of a long-winded story, but here goes.... Last week, Maisy went broody on us. She sat tight in the nest box and wouldn`t let Maisy in. She had an egg, which we removed, so she produced another one, we took that one away too and put an upturned plant pot into the nest to keepo her out.....she was NOT pleased by this During most of the following day she kept trying to get into the nest box so, having read about these things here on the forum, I dunked her rear end into cold water, this seemed to work for a time but had to be repeated three times the same day. Left the plant pot in the nest overnight and the following day she showed no interest in being broody.....Success That was 6 days ago, but Daisy still hasn`t produced any eggs Anyone got any ideas??? I assumed that it would take a few days for her system to get back to normal egg-laying state, but am now getting concerned. chelsea Posted August 29, 2008 Share Posted August 29, 2008 some of my girls go "semi broody" where they still eat/act normally but at any given chance will go and sit on an egg . Misty my cochin came out of her broodyness 2 weeks ago, no sign of eggs yet. I think it takes a while for them to get into laying mode. Ain't Nobody Here Posted August 29, 2008 Share Posted August 29, 2008 When Molly was broody recently, she didn't lay for 13 days (10 of which we were on holiday so couldn't do anything about it).
