A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Just (late I know!) put the chickens out, they all came down their ramp into the run, Mrs Jones crouched near me, I picked her up, had a stroke, put her back and... there was an egg! Right by the entrance to the run (inside it). Small - fits in the palm o my hand and takes up around half. But an egg! I just don't know who laid it. How fast do hens lay? Does it take them seconds or minutes and how many? Because it was warm, but that may have been week sunshine. Or Mrs Jones laid it in a real hurry or someone laid it last night and I only found it this morning. It's likely to be Mrs Jones the blue or Miss Blenner-Hassett the black (although she's golden) as their combs look the most mature. So, questions, but whoop! Total egg EEK! joy!!! mrsallen08
I have absolutely no idea! If it was a first egg then I would have thought it would have taken a bit longer!? Yay for you though!
..lay a little egg for me
I hope you did the egg dance? I think the first egg can sometimes take them by surprise so perhaps it did not take very long. I would have thought it would be pretty cold if it had been laid last night... Might be worth putting a fake egg or similar (e.g., golf ball) in the nest box so she knows where to go next time!

choppish
i think mine take about 40 mins from disappearing into nest box to coming out having laid.
