eggless
Hi everyone, Our 3 chickens and eglu arrived last week and the hens have settled in and are already ruling the roost (sorry ). It's our first time at keeping chickens so I'm full of questions that may well turn out to be a bit stupid, which is probably why I can't find the answers! Our children love the chickens, although we have a 'no chickens in the house' rule, it is already hard justifing why they can't come in when the chooks are knocking on the patio doors with a "please let me in" expression. Whilst I can cope with the vast quantity of poo they produce in the garden (I think I missed that warning when reading up about them), however lovely they are (and they are), I can't cope with it on the carpets. I'm sure I've read about people having their chickens sitting on their laps whilst watching telly. Was I dreaming this? If so is it possible to house train a chicken? Do other people let their chickens into the house? If so how do you cope with the poo? Again, sorry if these are daft questions and apologies if I've posted in the wrong place! x

The Brown Clan
My comes in to the conseratory , but no further than that and even not that far if i catch her in the act , although my older children find it amusing that there is a chicken in the house ( me too if i'm honest ) but i have an 18 month old daughter , and pooh on the floor is a no no ............. however if my daughter was older maybe i wouldn't have so much of a problem with it ( have hard floors though ) , but I don't think you can housetrain a chicken but i could be wrong . eggless
Thank you for your replies. As we have carpets, rather than hard floors, I think I shall stick to not letting the children bring the chickens into the house. x
dancing cloud
Mine have to go through the conservatory to get to the garden and there are little pressies left practically every day. Easy to clean off the hard floor, but there's no way a carpet would survive
