Fizzle Knit
Posted on another thread earlier today that I reckoned Dora has a hidey-hole somewhere. I have noticed her disapear a few times and not even emerge when I'm handing out treats (most unlike her). Today I finally spotted her. Our house is a semi but the detached house next to it is built really close so the passage between them is extremely narrow, maybe a foot wide. Never been down there all the time we've lived here. She was sitting down there right at the opposite end. Completely ignored me but emerged a few mins later. I had a look and could make out a pile of about 12 eggs there! No wonder the little madam didn't seem to be laying as frequently as her sisters Not sure if we can even get down there, which is where my smallish boys will come in handy when they get back from the park Who ever said chickens were stupid? Dora is my militant, marxist chicken and is determined not to let the evil capitalist humans get their hands on HER means (and fruits) of production

abwsco
LOL's Did your boys manage to get them out for you. At least mine who lays wherever she wants can only go under bushes in the garden.
The Brown Clan
How funny ( or not really for you ) they never cease to amaze me by their antics !
Fizzle Knit
She's not the friendliest of the hens but I have new-found respect for her as she really did manage to choose the very best place she could to stop us finding and getting at them easily. One of the boys managed to get down to collect them - there were 12 in all, and given that she has laid a few recently the collection must be going back at least 3 weeks. I put them in water and they all sank horizontally so appear to be OK to eat. (But when I do use them I'll be breaking them into a bowl first and having a sniff, and only using them for baking etc. (The 2 I used last night in yorkshire pudding were fine.) mrsallen08
Little monkey! Are you going to try to block it off now!? Or just send boys there when they finish school! Don't feed them too much so they can keep squeezing down there!
