Anyone lost a chicken in St Neots?

Recommended Posts

An hour after I got back from a jaunt to Edinburgh (staying at the Balmoral, no less  ) a friend rang to ask if I could rescue a chicken that was wandering around her neighbour's garden.

So I jumped in the car and pulled her out from the hedge and she is now sleeping in Layla's wendy house. I have not had a good look at her yet. I have spoken to the only chicken keepers I know at that end of town (near Priory juniors) but she is not theirs.

We are going to put some notices up tomorrow but could she be another chicken of fate? If she ends up moving in she will have to have a Scottish name...

Well she has been temporarily named Roxy (Edinburgh Rock - Rocky - Roxy). She has an omlet run to meander around and can see the other girls. She retreated to the wendy house for a while this morning - I wonder if she has laid an egg?

She has a clipped wing and has done a wormy poo. If I don't hear from anyone today I am going to start worming her - it seems like the right thing to do even though she isn't mine?

'Roxy' has gone home :(

While my friend was putting up the notices she discovered a neighbour had chickens.

Their boys had left the gate open while putting their bikes away, it seems....

They were grateful but I was a little reluctant to give her back - seems they have three big girls and six chicks - did not ask if they knew what they were going to do with any cockerels.... :?

ANH - I thought that would make you :lol: Glad we weren't footing the bill. And we all loved Edinburgh (we walked the Royal Mile and did the bus tour but did not have time to see much else - too much time spent gossiping over our cream teas at the hotel....)
