cliveb
I would like to think its not just my two girls. I am sure that I read somewhere that chickens dont like to get wet. Sharon and Lorraine spend all day free ranging, with the choice to go back into the run under cover at any time they like, however they stay out in all weathers. Of late they have been getting so wet they resemble drowned rats . It seems quite normal to them and they dont seem to mind at all. Does anyone else have chickens that think they are Ducks, or am I the onlt one
Jillus
My chickens also don't mind the rain and get soaked through even though they have plenty of places to go under cover. They do hate the wind though and huddle together in the feeding house when it is very windy. I would love to see them in the snow, fingers crossed for a few days of light dry snow around Christmas. Is that wishing for too much?
Egluntyne
Mine play out happily in the rain and have so far come to no harm because of it.
Eggstatic!
My three are always out in the rain, they also have access back to their run with shelter and they could shelter under the patio table if they wanted to but just stay out in the rain. Sandychick
Mine too. I haven't figured out if they like the rain, or have brains too small to understand the concept of shelter. I think they look funky with spikey wet feathers I usually put them back in the run a bit earlier if they get soaked so they can dry off before bed time
choppish
Mine ignore the rain too...althouhg my light sussex will put her tail down and look very skinny during rain. but never go for cover unless, the rain suddenly goes monsoon-esque in which case they both leg it for the run as quickly as possible. Milly
Mine don't seem to notice the rain either - or maybe we have had so much of it in their short lives that they think it's always like that! Milly
