Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

Dandelion, one of my 20 week old Columbines has had a 'cold' for about 4 weeks now.

She has a snotty beak, & sneezes a lot,but seems fine apart from that.

 

She has had Citricidal in her water for about 2 weeks & Respite for 2 weeks prior to that,with no improvement

 

Is there anything else I can try or is it time for the vet to see her do you think?

I also have a Sneezy hen.

 

I am adding Apple Cyder Vinegar to their water as suggested by the breeder.

 

I have another question though.

 

My sneezy hen, Shirley, has laid her first egg today.....yay.

 

Will it be ok to eat it being that she seems a little unwell with the sneezing?????

Sarah, 4 weeks seems quite a while with no improvement so maybe the vet is the next stop - she could have a low grade chest infection which could be shifted with Baytril?

 

Mostin - congratulations on the first egg - im sure it will be safe to eat so enjoy it

As for the snuffly chook - keep a close eye on her to ensure she is eating & drinking well and i hope she improves soon.

I agree with Emma,

 

Give the vet a ring and get some Baytril, that should shift it once and for all.

Just back from the vets with some Baytril.

 

It did clear up a couple of weeks ago, but seems to have slowly come back.

As you say,the Baytril should see the back of it

Sorry to have hi-jacked your thread cinnamon, I hope your girl gets properly better this time.

 

I am glad the concensus is that we can eat shirleys egg, I would have hated to have wasted my girls 1st effort.
