mrsallen08
Okay guys, We are off hen shopping on Saturday to a lady who has too many chooks! Anyhoo, she has black rock and warrens. All are 12-14 months old and laying well and just come out of first moult. Right which should we get? I read that black rocks can get a bit bullyish when they get older and we really don't want this as we have a couple of bantams too (or will do by sat). We also have 2 ex batts who are just so lovely but still shy. We want to get 3 hens so not sure to get 3 same or mix of both? Cast your votes now! MedusA
Warrens are "friendly" chickens in general, so I would suggest 2 Warrens and 1 Black Rock, for that bit of variety.
Snowy
That's exactly what I'd do
RubyReckless
I love Black rocks! I think they are so pretty, and mine have had lovely temperaments. The warrens are greedy, plump, very henny hens who lay big eggs. (well, mine do). I'd get at least one of each - it doesn't much matter if you pick 2 warrens and one BR or 2 BR and one Warren. mrsallen08
Thanks guys, Does anyone know how they lay after first year? The seller says they have all just come out of 1st moult so are about 12-15months old.
